Jason Kidd will leave New Jersey Nets
Jason Kidd realizes two things, that New Jersey Nets aren’t that very good and that their only chance of improving is to deal him.
“I’m not mad at anybody, Sometimes, when you ride a wave, you get to the end and that’s all there is. That’s where we are.”
Jeff Schwartz, Kidd’s agent had talks to the Nets management about moving Kidd by the Feb. 21 trade deadline, but he specified that the conversation is just a continuation of what started last All Star break, when the New Jersey Nets nearly bargained Kidd to the Los Angeles Lakers for a package of players which includes Kwame Brown and Lamar Odom to be traded by the Nets president Rod Thorn’s most wanted Andrew Bynum but the Lakers refused the offer.
Reports says that Kidd is insisting on playing to a contender, but he says “that he realizes there are no guarantees in any scenario. At this point, he simply wants to play for a team that can compete every night and utilize his talents.”
“It used to be if I got a triple-double, that was an automatic win. That’s just not the case now. We tried to make this work. We’ve found out it doesn’t. It’s time for us all to move on.”
Nets president Rod Thorn haven’t made talks to Kidd yet and declined to comment on which teams have expressed an interest in the nine time All Star. He just said that he wouldn’t be forced on making a deal.
“The reality is we’re only looking to make deals that make sense for us. If every time someone said, ‘I want you to trade me,’ you acquiesced, then you put yourself in a very vulnerable position because you have a revolving door.”
Kidd is still under contract till the end of the next season and will make $19.7 million this year and $21.3 million next year. But there are teams already interested in getting Kidd. Denver and Dallas have already expressed their interest but it is still a matter of what the Nets would insist upon in return.
Jason Kidd is a very good player but for me what is a good player if he hadn’t have a great team in the sense of having a good teamwork. New Jersey Nets is not there for a win but to put up a show. Yeah Vince Carter is good on making does dunks, showing is good, but hey man you need to score and you have to win to have a ring. What is a great player when you have reached your retiring days and still hasn’t have the chance to wear even one championship ring. I hope the Nets president would allow Kidd to transfer, for him to be able to reached his dreams. In the end it’s not all about the millions of dollars you’ve earned but what matters is the passion of being a basketball player and the heart of a true champion.![]()

He’s just not happy with the Nets… he’s a pretty good point guard but he just feels the Nets organization isn’t going to help him…
