Warning To OFW’s Going To UK
The Department of Foreign Affairs warns future OFW’s over the widespread of emails inviting them for a job in the UK as this may be a new scam operating in our country.
Philippine embassy in London reported that the culprits modus is to pose as British Border and Immigration Agency officials, which is a unit of British Home Office that manages migration in UK but the email addresses are from free accounts.
Edgardo Espiritu, Philippine Ambassador to London said “the e-mail message carries the official address of the British Border and Immigration Agency in its internal communications but use email addresses obtained from commercial Internet and e-mail service providers. Other syndicates employ the name of other British or Filipino agencies.
Victims are made to pay in an accredited remittance centers that are easily available nationwide. DFA says that before paying anything to any agency or employer, you should first verify its legitimacy over the POEA. If a payment is asked before deployment this could be a suspicious transaction.
According to DFA, there are more than 200,000 estimated Filipinos working in UK, mostly caregivers and nurses. Just recently UK adopted a new point based system to manage the migration of foreigners, making the authorities closely monitoring the entry of non European Union workers.

To our Fellow Filipino, Please you should be very careful with this type of scam it’s all over the place, we heard a lot of this in the Philippines and it’s very obvious. Further investigation won’t hurt and save the hard earn money (If not loaned that is) or else that makes it more shameful, to make it worse your in debt big time.

My God this entry is very timely. I just received an email from UK *daw* asking me if im willing to work there. He said that i need to shell out money for the processing, i said why not. i thought he’s referring to all my expenses here, but when he said that i need to pay the agency first, ang sabi ko sige kausapin ko muna ang uncle ko na police sa UK!
