Divisoria : Bargain Haven
DIVISORIA. History tells us that during 1800, this is the place were Chinese merchants moved in because they were banned from trading goods in Intramuros. So. they found a place outside the walls now known as Binondo.
Divisoria is the mecca of valued shopping. Manila’s hottest hot spot when it comes to bargains. This is the best place to shop for anything and everything, considering the fast approaching of the holiday season. From toys, to books, to bags, to clothes, from school and office supplies, to hair accessories, gardening tools and kitchen utensils, household furnishings to appliances. Name it, they’ve got it.. as long as your cool with the heat, the smell and the frenzied atmosphere of a public market, you can survive.
Prices are usually quoted by a dozen but also you can purchase on retail and still have a good deal of 3 to 6 pesos higher. If it’s your first time, better have some veteran Divisoria shopper around for a great haggling experience. No Credit Cards Please
For bargain hunters who cannot stand the heat, the crowd, the smell and cannot navigate the busy streets of Divisoria. There are four malls to choose from; Divisoria Mall, Tutuban Center Mall, 168 Mall and Meseic Mall.
DIVISORIA MALL is air-conditioned with stall partitioned into rows. The walkways are still narrow but still breathable. You’ll find in it’s three floors and a basement a variety of items you need; from clothing, shoes, bags, school/office supplies, wedding/corporate giveaways, party items, kids toys, household items to accessories, then this mall is the place to be. Divisoria Mall is into wholesale buys, so it would be better to shop with friends who need the same items you’ll get or if your a seller or a balikbayan this is a great deal . If hunger strikes, the food court is located on the 3rd floor and again, no credit card please.
Tutuban Center Mall is located in Divisoria which is famous for it’s wholesale market. Tutuban Center Mall is fully air-conditioned, everything you need in one huge indoor marketplace and everything is cheap. Tutuban provide shoppers a variety of items from food, clothing, jewelry, furnishings and cellphones. From class A to triple A designer bags, clothes, shoes and perfumes. The mall is also known for its wide array of handicrafts and delicacies. Aside from the Center Mall there is also a Cluster Mall for cheap retail goods. Again no credit card please.
168 Mall is located just right in front of the Tutuban Center Mall with entrances on Soler, Sta. Elena and Felipe Street. The mall is also air-conditioned, well lit and the floors are clean, ample parking area with visible guards on civilian clothes roaming around. 168 Mall is divided into Mall 1 and Mall 2 but is connected. With escalators for shoppers and elevators for merchants. Mall 1 has 3 floors with stall with visible signs, so no need to worry about getting lost. Stall sells from RTW, shoes, bags, novelty items, accessories, furnishings, hardware, toys, appliances, cd/vcd/dvd and many items for this coming holidays. Mall 1 also offers a lot of restaurants like Cantonese Dimsum House, Quan Yin Chay, Kusina ni Mader Lily; Joberry, Balut Eggspress,Have a Sip, Reyes Barbecue, Milko, Aldrino’s Bibingka Espesyal, Chariya’s Thai Kitchen, Kim Liong Tin Cuisine, Chopsticks & Spoon, Plates & Sweets, Kabby’s Food Express, Tai Kai Kuat Eatery, Karasa, Kalsnacks, Ying Xin Teahouse, Lami Gyud, King Kirby, Hwa Hong Restaurant, Namit Gid, Kai Hong Eatery, Mitzi’s Cantonese Kitchen, Jollibee and Greenwich. 168 Mall is a two year old mall and is still expanding. Cash Only.
Meseic Mall is just new and is also a bargain mall located in meseic street near 168 mall. Haven’t been here though so I have to check this out.
Other Fabulous Finds in the streets of Divisoria:

Eeeekkk!!! I was in Manila January 2007 and my nephew brought me here. We bought a lot of abercrombie style wristbands or something made in abaca and it was a hit amongst my caucasian classmates! Mahal kasi dun sa Tiendesitas! And even though I’ve lived in Manila for about 11 months in 2005 and before, i’ve never evah set foot in this place.
Kaya naman when I saw the pic, naku! ganyan talaga, wala ka nang change maka-utot sa dami nang tao!
There was another place we went to, around UST yata or a few blocks sa neighborhood na yun and all I remember was that sandamukal ang flowers na tinitinda!
Grabe! If you’re just gonna have to some time in the metro, you’d find all these great places to buy some bargain stuff! Kakatakot lang minsan these place! But i love them! Cheap ako eh! HAHAHAH
October 15th, 2007 at 2:35 am
dami pala pwedeng ikutan jan….makapunta nga minsan kaso takot ako sa tao

Dapat talaga walang dala kahit ano except sa pera sa bulsa mo. No fancy cellular phones or any electronic gadgets, unless meron kang 3210 or 5110 yun siguro naman hinde na hahablutin yun.
Saka dress down muna, kung pwedeng naka tsinelas ka lang mas maganda.

Hi Joyce.. I like ur posties.. It’s very informative and useful. I used to go shopping in Divi ages ago when I had my booth in Tiangge before.. Divi is the right place to go if u’re into buy and sell business. You can get 50 % off or even more compared to others. When it comes to safety, it’s quite safe as long as you’re not showy with your personal things.. like cellphones and jewelries.. When you go shopping there just wear simple clothes not too fabulous..

I am a huge fan of this store called Susie’s Deals!
They carry clothes for everyone, men’s, women’s, and kids too. I always know that I can walk in to one of their stores a come out with a big bag of really cute stylish stuff for $25! Everything in the store is sold for $5.99 or less and you can even find things that are 2 for $5.99!
I have bought some really nice name brand things at this store and given them to friends and family for Christmas. People have NO idea that these nice items only cost me $5.99 each .. It’s Awesome!
I urge you to check them out, because you only have one store on your site that carries clothing and this store appeals to everyone! And they have a web site where you can also shop online or snatch an e-coupon to use at the store, and if you spend $50 the shipping is FREE which is a definite plus!
Their web site is susiesdeals.com they have store in California, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah too.

Hi! I just love DV Soria so much! Im from Cag. de Oro City and everytime we have vacation there in Luzon (which is normally every summer i.e. April or May), we always visit the place! Super mura po ang mga bilihin not to mention ha na maganda pa yung quality – well, just try to ikot around for good finds. Hindi na po kami nag e-enjoy sa mga big malls like Glorietta, Mall of Asia or Rockwell pwera na po sa mga restaurants. For shopping needs talaga, we’d rather go to DV Soria kasi dami talagang pagpipilian plus the price is so affordable… kakapagod lang kung minsan kasi nagco-commute lang kami from Sta. Rosa (ayaw kami ihatid ng cousin ko kasi masyadong matraffic plus hirap maghanap ng parking space!). Advice lang po… tawad to the max po kayo kasi kung minsan pwede mong mabili yung item at half the price or less pa! I tried this so many times already! This summer, skip po muna vacation namin dyan but definitely next year, magkikita uli kami ng mga taga DV Soria!!!
