Benefits of Pinging
I have always wondered what is pinging for? Well my friend told me that when a blog is pinged it tells a weblog track system that hey my blog is updated already it only means that pinging is the act of telling tracking services that you have already updated.
It works like ping service scan blogs for updates then if there is a new post they will report it to a pinging services site. It is not actually a search engine spiders that visit sites to scan and do reports as well, but their difference is that ping service only reports new post.
Pinging is useful because it helps you to increase your site traffic, it tells people that you have a new post and your frequent readers will know by seeing the pings and might want to visit you again to check on your new post also newcomers can see the updates as long as you belong to similar pinging services like technorati, weblogs, etc.

Tama nga yan Ate Joyce. The good thing about Wordpress, pinging is automatic everytime you publish your post (that is, if you have configured your pinging options to ping automatically after each post).
So, after a few minutes, nasa search engine agad yung Post mo. But if you are using Wordpress MU like my blog, there’s no auto ping option, so I have to use manual ping services like pingomatic or pingates.

Ate Joyce, if i’m not mistaken ha (though the WP experts may correct me), meron na po yan sa options (even before). Sa 2.5 dito mo yata makikita : Dashboard > Design > Writing > tapos sa bandang baba, andun yung mga Ping sites na pwede mo ilagay, although default dun is Pingomatic.
