Hospital Standards
When my father was confined in the Intensive Care Unit to a very popular hospital in Kalookan just days ago, I just noticed that some usual practices did not happened. Compared to my experience with my mother being also confined in the ICU some eight years ago to a hospital in Manila some standard operating procedures are missing with the Kalookan hospital. Standards like wearing medical devices like gloves, caps, hospital gown and mask is not worn upon entering the intensive care unit.
I remember when my mother was in the ICU, nurses of the Manila hospital are very strict on implementing that rule and only two visitors are allowed to enter at the same time so others have to wait for their turn outside. While with my fathers experience everybody can go inside the ICU as long as it is under the visitation hours allowed. I hope that the standard on medical devices and the visitation rules will be practiced to that Kalookan hospital, it is for their patients safety too so that they will not caught viruses or infections and other sicknesses that other visitors might carry.
