The 99th Torchbearer in the Olympic Relay is a Pinay
Among the 208 torchbearers who run in the Olympic relay in Tangshan City last July 31, the 99th runner is a 17 year old pinay.
Michelle FlorCruz was just a month old when her parents moved to China to work in the Chinese Capital. She said she was made in China, born in the Philippines and raised in Beijing. She was so proud and happy to be a torchbearer on a place she considered her second country. She felt honored to be invited to participate and she said joining the relay is an unforgettable experience for her.
I could not stop smiling, it was really exciting and fun. I hope the Games will go smoothly, I hope the Olympic spirit and unity through sports will continue even after the Games.
Michelle had just graduated from the International School of Beijing last June and will be leaving China to study in the United States for college. She feels sad to leave her family and friends but she hopes to see her idol, basketball player Yao Ming play on NBA games.

I think she’s the daughter of Jaime Florcruz, CNN’s bureau chief in China. Nabasa ko noon that a Florcruz would be one of the torch bearers pero ang akal ko yung dad niya.
